Class Schedule The Life Support Program at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center offers courses for physicians, nurses, respiratory care practitioners and other eligible providers. See below for a listing of our available courses, or view our events calendar. BLS (Basic Life Support) Online & Voice Assisted Manikin "VAM"HeartCode BLS is the AHA’s BLS blended learning delivery method. Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course online in a self-directed manner, followed by skills completion on a Voice Assisted Manikin (VAM). The BLS Online & VAM (Voice Assisted Manikin) course is not interchangeable with the BLS Online & Instructor Led Skills course. Once you register for a BLS & VAM course you will not be able to complete your skills assessment at an Instructor-led class nor change to a BLS & Instructor registration. Online Modules will be made available in RQI as soon as a Life Support administrator is able to complete the request. Requests are typically handled Monday-Friday 0730-1530. DH staff/travelers are required to use their DH email to register for Life Support classes. New hires who have not yet been issued a DH email, please include your start date and hiring manager’s name in the registration under “Comments/Special Requests”. Geisel School of Medicine students are required to use their Geisel email. If you are completing the skills session on the VAM no certificate is needed and no appointment is needed. VAM Locations: Concord: The Concord VAM is open to DH employees only. For new hire DH employees without DH credentials please register with your personal email – you must enter your start date in the Comment Section and contact one of the following: Constance McCoy @constance.l.mccoy@hitchcock.org or Alysia Weaver @alysia.m.weaver@hitchcock.org to schedule a time to use the VAM. The Concord VAM is located in Room #2429 on the main level of Primary Care on the South side. Lebanon: Level 2 past 2M in the PSTC Lobby. Available 24/7 no appt needed. Manchester: The Manchester VAM is open to DH employees only. For new hire DH employees without DH credentials please register with your personal email – you must enter your start date in the Comment Section and contact either Kim Danis @Kim M. Danis or Kaitlynn Royce @kaitlynn.m.royce@hitchcock.org to schedule a time to use the VAM. The VAM is located in the basement in the employee lounge. When coming off the elevator, take a left, the lounge is the second door on your left. The VAM is located to your left as you walk into the lounge. The VAM is available Monday through Saturday 8am-5pm. No appt is necessary for DH employees. Nashua: The Nashua VAM is open to DH employees only. We recently re-established badge access to the copy room (#0085) across from Administration on the lower level where our Voice-assisted Manikin (VAM) is available for the hands on portion of BLS training. The VAM is available Monday thru Friday from 7am-8pm and Saturday & Sunday from 8am- 4pm. No appointment is necessary for DH employees. For new hire DH employees without DH credentials you will need to contact Nashua.Administration.Support@hitchcock.org to make an appointment to come in and use the equipment. Once learners complete the online module, they must complete a 4-hour hands-on skills practicum in the classroom. Online course completion is required prior to attending the skills practicum with proof of completion presented to the instructor via the online completion certificate. Learners will not be granted admission to class without proof of online completion. AHA ACLS materials can be purchased at ACLS Products | American Heart Association and are not required for this course. Student manuals may be loaned out from the Matthew Fuller Library on the fifth floor of the DHMC-Lebanon campus. *Please note, attending an ACLS class does not also certify staff in BLS. Training to be credentialed in moderate sedation is role specific. This program is for sedationists, meaning the person providing moderate sedation for the procedure, and is only available for Dartmouth-Hitchcock employees. Modules are assigned in Halogen, Mon - Fri 8-3:30. Required Pre-requisites Current ACLS or PALS certification Required training includes the following steps:• Register for this course - This will sign you up for the hands-on simulation and the online modules.• Receive an email confirmation for the hands-on simulation training • Once your ACLS/PALS certification is verified, the modules will be manually assigned to you in Halogen • Receive a second confirmation email, from Halogen, when they are available for you to access• Complete the modules in their entirety• Successfully pass the final exam• Be present for the entire hands-on simulation training There is no registration fee for this course.
